Modern Shows are thrilled to have been asked to show in the Hepworth Gallery's Calder Space. It will be their first pop-up in the North of England and what a way to kick off more shows UK-wide! Expect the usual mix of high-end industrial, Scandinavian, posters and ceramics, as well as some more unusual items gleaned from the era between the 30s and 70s when design was at its most innovative and exciting.
Set in a listed wool mill beside the award-winning Chipperfield-designed Hepworth Wakefield, with its extraordinary Barbara Hepworth rooms, you cannot fail to have a fantastic day. Dealers at the show include 2 Columbia Road, Twentieth Century Antiques, C20 Marks and industrial specialist Retrouvius. Expect a few Hepworth oddities from some dealers plus Hollywood posters from Orson & Welles and fabulous traditional Berber rugs from the Beni Ourain Rug Company. Smoove and Turrell producer Trevor McNamee (owner of Jalapeno Records and regular on Craig Charles' Radio 4 show) will be playing some of his favourite tunes on Retropolitan's Sixties HMV Garrard teak record deck. Vintage vans will be serving food outside.
With admission £3 in advance, £2 for members and £5 on the day, Midcentury Modern at the Hepworth Wakefield takes place on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of February, from 10am - 4pm.
