HEALTH & BEAUTY: Herbal Detox
Spring brings thoughts of renewal, so why not embark on a mini detox to revitalise your body and mind. By cutting out meat, dairy, processed foods and caffeine for a few days and instead turning to simple, lighter foods, you can give your body rest and allow it to release stored toxins.

This detox centres around lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, packed with nutrients, enzymes and fiber to cleanse the digestive system. You can add herbs of your choice to your detox: I have chosen parsley for its detoxifying properties - it is rich in vitamin C and known as a liver cleanser.

Breakfast
Juice 2 carrots, 1 apple and a handful of parsley. Drink immediately to absorb the vitamins and minerals. Follow with a glass of water when ready.
Mid-morning Snack
A large handful or two of berries such as strawberries, cherries or blueberries. Plus a glass of water.
Lunch
A salad of mixed vegetables of your choice, including lettuce, cucumber, pepper, avocado and chopped parsley, plus a small handful of pumpkin seeds and 2 tablespoons of cooked brown rice. Dress with a little olive and and lemon juice. Plus a glass of water.
Afternoon Snack
Another glass of freshly made carrot, apple and parsley juice, followed by a glass of water.
Dinner
Steamed vegetables of your choice with grilled tofu. To add some flavour to the tofu, you might want to marinade it in a little soy sauce, a little olive oil, crushed garlic and chopped red onion for an hour or so, then grill or griddle it for about 5 - 7 minutes on each side. Add a heaped tablespoon of chopped parsley to garnish the dish. Followed by a glass of water.
Evening Snack
A final glass of freshly made carrot, apple and parsley juice, followed by a glass of water.
Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns about altering your diet or are pregnant.
