BUSINESS: Intellectual Property Advice for the Creative Sector
Intellectual property advice organisation Own-it offers intellectual property (IP) advice, information and learning resources specifically for the creative sector. Funded by the University of the Arts London (UAL) and supported and backed by numerous leading law firms and schools, Own-it looks to be an invaluable resource for those wanting to protect their IP rights on what can often be a perilous journey through the creative sector.
The services offered via the website range from simple FAQs to specialist support via an online enquiries system, online and face-to face seminars and workshops and special surgeries with IP lawyers. There's even an Own-it TV channel running informative programmes on everything from "How to have a good trade show" to "Approaches to Selling".
Here's what they say:
"Our mission is to provide knowledge, support and advice on intellectual property to the creative sector through events, online resources and an online enquiries system. We help creative practitioners to protect and manage their IP and recognise the value for the growth of their business. We work with a network of IP advisers including leading law firms, law schools and specialists at various trade organisations associated with the creative industries in the UK."
